Afternoon Drive
(Andrea, Shadrack, Petros & Robin)

Rhino (x 1 male)
Buffalo (Daghaboy) / Jaydee – Nkombe Pan
Buffalo (Daghaboy) / Vielmetter – Sweet Water Pan
Buffalo (Daghaboy) / Vielmetter – Nyosi River Road

With an early check out planned, I didn’t have all that much time for wandering around this morning. I headed straight to the hyena den to check on any activity there and was in luck as the two sub-adults were out and about, full of cheek as usual!

I decided to do a quick loop further south before heading back up north to camp. I turned onto a road which has really taken a knock during the last rains and was feeling a little irritated with myself knowing the state of the road and having taken it anyway...just as well I did…as we turned the corner, two rhino (a young male and female) were still dozing next to the road. We spent as much time as possible before having to hurry back to camp!

With late arrivals in the afternoon, I had a rather quick drive, spending most of the time with some hippos at Agryle Dam. The sky was unbelievable tonight! Shadrack managed to find a number of buffalo bulls as well as a rhino! Not too bad for a quiet afternoon.

See you tomorrow,
Andrea

  1. Thanks Andrea, love the photos, although I'm of an age when we only used to get black and white pics when younger so I'm never very keen on them now lol ! All those beautiful colours in Africa deserve to be shown in all their glory ;) Rosie.

    Hi Andrea,
i too was going to ask what the bird was, but having worked my way through my Roberts, I think the best candidate is White-crested Helmet-Shrike. Am I right?
